Cryan Chronicles

Meet Dusty

By Cryan Chronicles No Comments

Dusty is a 3 or 4 year old female pit bull terrier. She was attacked by another dog and brought to a veterinary hospital in Lancaster. Her owner couldn’t afford to repair her wounds and she was surrendered to the hospital for treatment and future adoption. During her convalescence it was discovered that she was pregnant and after a few weeks had puppies. Even though Dusty has a very sweet and kind disposition she wasn’t being adopted due to her breed and the fact that she would eventually need surgery to repair her kneecap popping out of it’s groove, better know as luxating patella. Enough money was finally raised to repair her knee and shortly after surgery Shannon heard about her and found out she was up for adoption. After hearing Dusty’s story and seeing her kind disposition Shannon adopted her on the spot.

You will now find Dusty curled up in what we call the “puppy room” in the back where the managers do work on the computer. She greets everyone with a tail wag and gets up to be loved on before she lays back down next to Shannon. She loves everybody but you can tell her true appreciation is for Shannon. Ours is too.

Staff Highlight: Laura, Client Service Rep

I’m Laura, and I’ve been a Veterinary Assistant/Customer Service Rep since 2008. Before this/ outside of work I have 14 years of Zoo keeping experience with a specialization in Ornithology/Aviculture and currently volunteer with the Metro Parks with a strong interest in nature/conservation education. I have 4 pets; 2 dogs, Laney and Hank, a cat named JC, and an Amazon Parrot named Poppy. I am also a lover of what I call my Big B’s”: Beagles, Birds, Bunnies, Butterflies, 80’s (hair) Bands, and Buckeyes. I jump out of bed with a big smile on my face each morning because my pets bring me so much joy and I want to enhance the human/animal bond for others to experience that same joy!

This is more than a job; I’m on a mission to welcome our clients as family and share in all aspects of pet ownership by celebrating the happy moments and providing compassionate support during the difficult times as well.”

I’m Catelyn and I’ve been a Registered Veterinary Technician since December of 2012. Before this I worked with and rode horses competitively, primarily competing in 3 Day Eventing and Dressage. I have two small Poodles, Derby and Dora. I love the customer service aspect of my job because educating the clients on how to give their fur babies the best life possible is so rewarding for me.

“Cryan is a great fit for me because it allows me to grow and develop my technical skills in a family environment.”
